7-Eleven prepares major expansion in
China
World's largest convenience store retailer 7-Eleven plans a major expansion of its presence in China. This will be done through franchising operations, involving a consortium of existing licensees.
These licensees include Hong Kong based Dairy Farm, which already operates 62 stores in Guangdong Province, in addition to its 400 Hong Kong 7-Elevens. Also 7-Eleven Japan, which is the by far largest store operator in this network of 22,000 convenience stores world-wide, is said to be prepared to participate. 7-Eeleven is owned by Japanese retail multinational Ito-Yokado, which also runs a large network of supermarkets in its home country.
