Lidl stores security risks for shop workers and consumers? Many Lidl stores may be serious security risks for both workers and consumers. In Sweden, a consultant warns that all store roofs may not hold for wet snow that builds up. In Ostrava in the Czech Republic, the roof of a Lidl store fell down just after New Year, late at night but with workers and customers still present. A woman was hurt in the accident, but a real catastrophe was avoided. Just days before, 12 people died when the roof of an indoor ice stadium broke down under heavy snow in Bad Reichenhall in German Bavaria. A construction consultant who was recently interviewed on Swedish television said that the Lidl roofs are built so that they are too weak to hold large amounts of heavy wet snow. In fact, Lidl stores in Skövde and Mariestad in Sweden have had to close their doors when their roof constructions were damaged by snow loads. In many other Swedish localities, authorities are worried that the same problem may be found in their Lidl stores. Lidl is said to have started working on the problem.
