Mycal will close stores and move HQ staff to shop floor

Japan's fourth largest supermarket operator Mycal has announced a restructuring plan. This will entail closing 38 stores. Staff from headquarters will be moved to the shop floor, the company says.

According to today's Japan Times, Mycal will focus on about one hundred of its profit-making Saty mass-retail shops and Vivre clothing stores. Recently, it has been rumoured that the heavily indebted company is seeking cooperation with Wal-Mart or Carrefour.
