KASz adds to its presence in Hungary's commerce multinationals:
Collective agreement with REWE gives Penny Market workers fair employment conditions
Jozsef Saling, President of UNI Commerce affiliate KASz, is pleased that the long collective agreement negotiations with REWE have finally been brought to an end. The agreement that was recently signed in Budapest gives the workers of REWE's discount chain Penny Market decent and regulated working conditions.

KASz is present in large parts of the Hungarian retail scene. With market leader Tesco, a social partnership was signed several years ago, after a negotiating process where also UNI Commerce participated actively.

UNI Commerce affiliate KASz has added to its presence on the Hungarian retail scene. A collective agreement with Germany's number three retailer REWE covers the workers at the company's Penny Market discount chain. It brings to an end a long negotiating process, where also UNI Commerce was involved at its early stages, to get the discussions going.

- We consider that the union has finally succeeded in making sure that the Penny Market workers will enjoy decent and regulated working conditions, says KASz President Jozsef Saling.

The new collective agreement will have priority over individual employment agreements if it gives stronger protection, Jozsef Saling says. Also all benefits that have been granted to the employees over the years have now been included in the text, which the union considers to be particularly important.

- We now hope that the employer, as has agreed, will continue to develop the collective agreement contents with us, says the union president. He also expects the wage negotiations to lead to fast results.
