Uniqlo will open 200
shops in the UK Japan's successful clothing retailer Uniqlo will expand abroad. This autumn, it will open its first shop in London. During the next three years, this Japanese version of the U.S. clothing chain GAP will open fifty stores outside the home country. During the six month period from September 2000 to February this year, the chain has made a profit of some 300 million USD. This has sent the share prices of the parent company Fast Retailing soaring, something which is not that common in the generally troubled Japanese retail sector today. |
