Hillary Clinton refuses election support from Wal-Mart US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton refuses to accept a donation from Wal-Mart to her election campaign. Already in November last year, she returned a 5,000 USD donation to the Bentonville retail giant. Ann Lewis, Senator Clinton's assistant, says the money was returned as there are "serious differences with current company practices". During her Arkansas years in the 1980's, Hillary Clinton served on the Wal-Mart board. "Cities and states are saying we can't keep holding the bag here," Clinton said some days ago, commenting positively on the new legislation in Maryland, which requires Wal-Mart to spend at least 8 per cent of its payroll towards health insurance. According to Newsday, she told reporters at the US Conference of Mayors in Washington that "I certainly understand their need to try to take some action because the burden is getting shifted onto the taxpayer." Hillary Clinton is a probable Democrat presidential candidate in 2008.
