- Labour news from UNI global union - for trade unions in a global services economy. -
Financial Institutions Employees' Union (FIEUN) the finance sector union of UNI in Nepal, with the support of UNI APRO through it’s Organising and Development Center UNIDOC Nepal, is expanding it’s coverage in the fast growing private banking sector. The workers from this sector committed to form union in the enterprise level and join FIEUN as their sectorial federation.
They also shared their experience and took note of various problems faced by workers in the private banks. They have also planned their priority activities to be carried out for organizing and solving their problems through unions in the“National Workshop on UNIonism in Private Banks” organized by FIEUN on 18-19 August 2007 in Kathmandu under UNI APRO Nepal project with the financial support of LOTCO/SEKO Sweden.
All together 25 participants from following different private and joint venture banks were participated this course:
• Siddhartha Bank Limited
• NABIL Bank
• Kumari Bank
• Nepal Industrial and Commercial Bank
• Everest Bank
• Machhapuchhre Bank
• Bank of Kathmandu
The program was coordinated by Mr. Rajendra Acharya Director of UNIDOC Nepal and was discussed various issues of private banking workers. The Participants were informed about union's verious issues & role in their union in changed context. |
