UNI Second Life protest against IBM short-listed for prestigious award


The protest UNI orchestrated in Second Life in September 2007, has been short-listed as one of the top 10 world-wide award-winning projects, which are judged on their originality, impact and exemplarily, by the NetXplorateur Forum in France.

About the protest
The event was the first ever of its kind to take place in a virtual world. It involved almost 2'000 participants, who occupied IBM's islands in Second Life for 12 hours in a row.
The virtual protest lead to a Real Life success: the Italian IBM CEO resigned shortly after it took place and the negotiations reopened with the RSU union. 9'000 IBM workers were finally granted a fair agreement.
