UNI's
Hair & Beauty Sector covers 46 countries worldwide (29 in Europe) and
55'400 members.
As the vast majority of the workers in this sector are
women, strategies for organising more women into trade unions are a top
priority. So too is training and we look forward to the continuous
development of the Hairdressing Certificate Programme in the European
Union as a major breakthrough in coming years. Health and Safety is a key issue - including tackling
social and psychological tensions which cause stress at work. The implementation of the code of conduct, "How to
get along", agreed in the framework of the European Social Dialogue
and signed by the social partners in June 2001 and a possible extension of
the guidelines to other countries will be prominent on the sector’s
future agenda. |
