Projects
All projects involving UNI
affiliates and its regional organisations are listed in a Project Catalogue, which is regularly
updated. You can download the list by clicking on the button in the right
column. The catalogue is organised according to regions
and funding organisations.
At first glance the Project Catalogue may look like a collection of
very diverse projects but a closer look shows how they are
connected and how several general categories can be identified:
-
Union
development projects:
Projects for individual
unions, usually with a limited budget and for a limited period of
time;
-
Union organising projects:
Projects
for all UNI affiliates in one country on a cross-sector basis in
co-operation with the national liaison councils;
-
Sector union development projects:
Projects
for specific sectors on a country and/or regional basis;
-
Multilateral union development
projects: Projects at sub-regional level on a trans-sectorial or
inter-professional basis.
Relief
Fund
In addition to these
general categories of project cooperation, we also organise financial support
through a new
Relief Fund to ensure the continued existence of an organisation during
periods of natural
disasters, situations
of force majeure, when
political circumstances demand intervention
and at
providing legal aid. These funds can be requested at any time and
financial assistance released from the funding organisation within 10
working days.

FOCUS ON GLOBAL PROJECTS
Global
Development Impact Initiative, GDII
The
Initiative’s overall objectives are to optimise UNI’s capacity to
provide development tools to workers’ organisations through UNI
structures and to strengthen their performance capability and that of
affiliates. The
underlying purpose is the overall institutional development of UNI and its
affiliates as one homogenous ever stronger and unified organisation.
Gender Equality Project,
GEP
Global
Equality is the aim of this project that is running
worldwide. Sub-projects are written and implemented with or without
external financial support on different gender and women issues on a
regional, national and at local union level. Leadership and Management,
LMTT
The
Leadership and Management programme consists of union top leadership and
management discussions and training in regional forums, each forums comprising
of three workshops. UNI Online
The UNI Online project is a contribution to bridging the digital divide
that threatens to isolate many unions in the developing world and instead
to turn the entire Global Union Federation into an online organisation
using the e-mail and the Internet communication. Visibility
Visibility workshops focuses on how to get the union message across and will be
organised in Eastern Europe and Central Asia during 2005 and 2006. The
Visibility workshops are sub-projects to UNI
Online which launches in the region. The aim
is to get the unions online, provide IT training through e-learning and to
introduce new ways of communication and campaigning in union
visibility.
