The
main purpose of this page is to keep UNI-Americas affiliates and the rest
of the trade union movement informed of the main facts and situations that
daily affect trade unions and their affiliates, with particular emphasis
on the sectors represented in UNI. The effort made by UNI-Americas in this
regard is based on the clear understanding that workers should have on the
need of having timely and true information, as a vital element for the
trade movement, mainly during this stage of deep and fast changes. In the
case of the Americas, besides the changes in the global economic
structure, workers and their trade unions are faced with an additional
threat of great proportions, such as the execution of the FTAA (Free Trade
Area of the Americas), which must be fully acknowledged, as well extent of
this agreement in the topics which have a direct impact on the labour
world.
