International project committee meets in Sarajevo, takes note of good progress
The International Project Committee, which leads FIET's solidarity work in
Bosnia and Herzegovina, met in Sarajevo on 11 to 12 January to take stock of project
activities and discuss future work. Chaired by Sture Arntzen, the president of HK Norway,
the committee also met with the presidents of the commerce and finance trade unions.
Taking note of the report on
activities in 1998, the project committee expressed its satisfaction with the work
done in Sarajevo and the other project offices. Both in the commerce and finance sectors,
trade union activities have developed considerably during the year. In the commerce
sector, membership has increased fast in both entities and in finance, the unions have
consolidated their positions. Women's and youth activities have been particularly
successful and will remain a main project priority.
Representatives of the Norwegian finance and insurance workers' trade
unions participated as observers in the committee meeting.
