The future of our
social dialogue is at stake: UNI-Europa Commerce and EuroCommerce will intervene with the Danish EU-Presidency The reform of the European social dialogue, proposed by the Commission, has unexpectedly brought a lot of turmoil to the commerce dialogue. Perhaps the most active of all sectoral dialogues, it is now threatened to be hurt by the risk that the social partner status of EuroCommerce be downgraded by an exclusion from the new Tripartite Social Summit. UNI-Europa Commerce and EuroCommerce have agreed to issue a joint statement on the future of their European social dialogue. The statement calls for the inclusion of EuroCommerce in the Tripartite Social Summit, which actually would be possible without changing the Commission's proposal itself. The social partners will also raise the recent problems concerning interpretation of the criteria for project administration, which have created difficulties for Switzerland-based UNI-Europa Commerce to fully participate in social dialogue related activities. Discussions about how a solution could be found are now on their way with the relevant Commission services.
