Sainsbury, Metro and Kroger join GlobalNetXchange

GlobalNetXchange, the e-business market place created by Oracle, Carrefour and Sears earlier this year continues to grow. Leading British retailer J Sainsbury plc has now joined the new enterprise, as well as German commerce giant Metro AG and the largest grocery chain in the United States, Kroger.

In a press release of 23 March, Sainsbury list some of the benefits that the company believes it will get from participation in this new venture:

  • Greater efficiencies and cost savings in buying on the web
  • Collaborative buying opportunities for non resaleable goods
  • More efficient planning and forecasting in supply chain
  • Increased range and choice of sourced goods, particularly in own label goods.
