Carrefour sells three
Spanish hypermarkets French multinational Carrefour will sell three of its Spanish hypermarkets, as part of the divestment programme required by authorities after the merger with Promodes. Two stores will be bought by Alcampo, which is part of Carrefour's French competitor Auchan. The third one goes to Eroski, a cooperative Spanish retailer. Earlier, there were some speculations about Wal-Mart wanting to buy the hypermarkets that Carrefour was required to cede. Carrefour has denied all along that it had any such intentions. Also Uni cautioned against allowing Wal-Mart to establish itself in France or Spain. |
