Commerce Carrefour Pages

Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer, has been badly affected by looting when the Argentinian economy collapsed some weeks ago. Many hypermarkets and hard discount stores were looted, in some cases personnel had to stand up and physically resist the angry crowds.

Now, most stores have been reopened and Carrefour has announced its intention to stay in the troubled country. The French retail multinational has a thirty per cent market share in food retailing in Argentina.
