Collective agreement
with Ikea: SDA breakthrough with anti-union employer in Australia The Swedish furniture multinational Ikea has signed a collective agreement with UNI Commerce affiliate SDA. This is a major breakthrough for the Australian commerce union as Ikea has traditionally been strongly anti-union in this country. The new agreement, which has been certified by the Industrial Relations Commission, gives workers pay rises of 3.5 and 3 per cent over the next two years. In addition, there are additional pay rises based on years of service as well as provisions for maternity leave.
