Intermarché and Carrefour continue to grow in Poland

Intermarché, the French hypermarket group, will open another ten Intermarche and Bricomarche stores in Poland before the end of this year. The company already operates 30 stores in the country. It has also announced that it will introduce other store formats as well.

Also Carrefour adds to its Polish operations. The global number two in retailing will open one more hypermarket this year and two next year. It will also add ten Champion supermarkets to its chain in Poland.

Uni-Europa Commerce has recently negotiated a new European Works Council agreement with Carrefour, which is adapted to the company structure created by last year's merger with Promodes. According to this agreement, Uni-Europa Commerce can appoint an observer member from Poland to this Council.
