Metro sells toys over the
internet
German commerce multinational Metro has set up an Internet company, which will sell toys on the German market. Zebralino, the new company, is jointly owned by Metro AG and its fully owned department store subsidiary Kaufhof. The new company will use the chain of Kaufhof department stores - when they want to, customers can change their products in every Kaufhof store. Toys"R"Us, the American category killer, is tightly squeezed by its department store and hypermarket competitors, among them Wal-Mart and Metro. Recently, the toy retailer joined Amazon.com in a new e-commerce operation. |
