and New Zealand: WH Smith is entering the Australian and New Zealand markets in big style. The large British book and stationery retailer has paid 38 million GBP (54 million USD) for a US owned holding company Blue Star Consumer Retailing. This gives WH Smith the ownership of two major chains with a total of 184 stores, Angus & Robertson in Australia and Whitcoulls in New Zealand. They are both market leaders.
