Australia and New Zealand:
WH Smith buys leading book retailer

WH Smith is entering the Australian and New Zealand markets in big style. The large British book and stationery retailer has paid 38 million GBP (54 million USD) for a US owned holding company Blue Star Consumer Retailing. This gives WH Smith the ownership of two major chains with a total of 184 stores, Angus & Robertson in Australia and Whitcoulls in New Zealand. They are both market leaders.
