Wal-Mart workers in the UK will go on strike

GMB members who are employed in the ASDA Washington SAC2 distribution depot have voted by 74% to take strike action on the 27th, 28th and 29th July. This will be the first action. The official ballot was conducted by the Electoral Reform Balloting Services. The dispute is over this years pay offer which has been rejected by the ASDA Washington workers.

Mark Wilson, GMB Organiser said, "GMB members have clearly demonstrate that they are not satisfied with what the company has offered, by the level of the vote for strike action. My advice to the company is to get back to the negotiation table and sort out a deal with the members. ASDA customers can to help get a fair deal for the people who make sure ASDA shops are full 24 hours a day by asking to see their ASDA store managers and telling them to treat their workers fairly."
